La Tirana Religious Festivity

La Tirana town, located in the middle of the Tamarugal pampa (Pampa del Tamarugal), is a quiet little town that each July 16th celebrates the Catholic holiday of the La Virgen del Carmen with a grandiose festival that attracts thousands of visitors and believers. Between the 12th and 18th of July the small town suffers a metamorphosis when believers offer music, dance and gifts to their Virgin patron saint. It is an outstanding and unique spectacle in Chile.
