Things To Do

Boating

The most popular spot in town to take a leisurely boat trip is at the Kleinhesseloher See (Kleinhesseloher Lake) in the Englischer Garten, where rowing/pedal boats cost around 7.00 per half-hour for up to four people. You can also hire boats at the Olympiapark.

Cycling

Munich is an excellent place for cycling. There are many places that hire out bikes by the hour or day. Some staff will speak English and are happy to provide tips and advice on touring around Munich or will offer guided bike tours of the city.

Surfing

While Munich's surf scene wouldn't exactly be described as gnarly, at the southern tip of the Englischer Garten is an artificially created wave in the Isar River where surfers practise their moves.

Swimming

Bathing in the Isar River isn't advisable because of pollution. The two best public swimming pool options are the Olympia-Schwimmhalle and the spectacular Art Nouveau Müllersches Volksbad in Haidhausen
