Home - Germany ArticlesWeather OverviewStuttgart's climate is mild in comparison to most German cities, but the winter months of November to March can still deliver temperatures as low as -9°C (16°F). Warmer temperatures from June to August are accompanied by high rainfall. Humidity levels seldom rise above 80%. Orientation Stuttgart lies in a valley just west of the Neckar River. The lovely Kriegsberg vineyards overlook town from the northeast. Steep grades are common on city streets - over 500 of them end in staircases (Stäffele) that lead to the top of the hills. The main train station (Hauptbahnhof) is just north of the central pedestrian shopping street, Königstrasse. The tourist office, i-Punkt, is just opposite the station. The Palace Garden (Schlossgarten), with its swan ponds, street entertainers and modern sculptures, stretches almost 4km (2.5mi) southwest from the Neckar River to the city centre. Across Hauptstätter Strasse to the southeast lies the Bohnenviertel, the old labourer's quarter, which is now filled with pubs, restaurants and galleries. Bad Cannstatt, site of Germany's second-largest beer festival and several mineral spas, is east of the city's zoo and botanical gardens at Wilhelma. ^ Top Time Zone GMT/UTC +1 () Daylight Saving Start: last Sunday in March End: last Sunday in October Weights Measures System Metric |
