SummerCarnival, similar to the carnival in Rio, is a huge event where at least 1.000.000 visitors come from all over Europe to dance to the latinmusic and look at the colourful and amazing costumes and floats in the big streetparade. THREE ELEMENTS The Summer Carnival comprises three elements: The Queen's Pageant, the Warming Up and the Street Parade. Originally, the Summer Carnival was a mainly Antillean and Aruban affair. Now, however, it also has Surinam, Brazil, Cape Verdean and Bolivian accents. PARTY ON! SummerCarnival, the last weekend of July in Rotterdam, has got a lot to offer! For starters you can visit the SummerCarnival preparty on Thursday on the Beach. The next day The Warming Up/Battle of Drums starts of. On Saturday the big Streetparade emerges in the city centre. At night there is still a lot to see on the two live stages and last but not least you can visit El Gran Noche de Carnival, so you can party on the Brazilian way until the wee hours. |
