The following is a selection of Rotterdam's dance palaces.

BAJA BEACH CLUB

This club has made the term 'beach club' a household name in Holland. The concept stands for great food and entertainment in a cheerful and exciting atmosphere. You should not just have a great night; you should have the best time ever at a beach club! The crew – not unattractive! – try to achieve this by creating an atmosphere full of energy and activity. You will soon forget your day-to-day worries. The backdrop consists of life-size palm trees, an 8-meter speedboat, magnificent murals and relics from famous beaches all over the world. And there is still plenty of space for the guests!

DE BOOT BAROCCA

This is a unique discotheque located on a former lightship. It is located between the art academy and the Ned Lloyd building. The average age of guests is about 23. The music is not limited to house but practically everything imaginable is played. The boat can also be rented for parties and celebrations, receptions, etc.

STUDIO LE BATEAU

The average age of the studio’s guests is about 25. Music: top 40 and dance.

CRAZY PIANOS

Two pianists and their bright red grand pianos are the focus here. They play the piano, drum with the hammers, sing, talk and dance. The place has no electronic sound system and the ambience is usually great right from the start.

MAASTHEATER

The Maastheater is known primarily for the various TV broadcasts made from there. It is a large, trendy discotheque for the over 23s. Types of music vary, with middle-of-the-road house and dance dominating.

NIGHTTOWN

This is one of the first house temples of Zuid-Holland. Nighttown is open Thursdays and Sundays from 11 p.m. to 4 a.m.; Fridays and Saturdays from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m. Live performances may be held any day of the week. Types of music: live performances of house, alternative styles, guitar, pop, world music, reggae, hardrock, etc. The average guest is aged between 20 and 30. At Nighttown Café next door TV recordings are made for the Comedy Factory.

NOW & WOW

This is the new ultra-desirable relaxation and dance club. This club, owned by Ted “MTC” Langenbach, avoids macho culture and TMF-style house. Cuddling, socializing and relaxing to the music of ambitious DJs, lounging with a good book and a an afternoon club for kids: that is the formula of Now & Wow.

DANCE CLUB TROPICANA

The best DJs from at home and abroad, along with various VJs, offer the best dance music, from speed-garage to trance, and from club to techno. Door policy favors party-minded and party-dressed people. Valet parking, many acts, dancers and other entertainment.
