Aalsmeer lies in the heart of Holland's flower district. The city of Aalsmeer has one of the two largest flower auctions in Holland: Flower Auction Aalsmeer. Flowers travel the world over from this auction complex. A visit to the flower auction makes for an interesting outing.

ONE MILLION FLOWERS PLUS

The flower parade Aalsmeer is a popular annual event. A three-kilometer-long ribbon of floats travels from Aalsmeer via Amstelveen to Dam Square in Amsterdam. The large floats are decorated with well over one million flowers. This colorful and fragrant spectacle is truly a Dutch delight!

TELEVISION STUDIOS

Aalsmeer is not just known for its flower trade. Many of Holland's most popular television programs are produced in the Aalsmeer studios. It is quite good fun to attend one of the recordings.

SCENIC BEAUTY

Lovers of hiking and biking can do so to their hearts? content around Aalsmeer. The Westeinderplassen lakes offer great swimming, sailing, windsurfing, rowing and yachting. The Westeinderplassen comprise a large lake, surrounded by several smaller lakes. A network of ditches links the lakes. Many birds feel right at home here and rare plants and fish are spotted on a regular basis. The Westeinderplassen are also popular for the many attractive marinas, the surf island and the recreational facilities along the shores.
